The Fiber Optic Switch “Optic over Mechanical isolator” The circuit is isolated by a mechanically operated switch, light is fed into the switch on one side and a separate cable leaving the switch. The switch has a rotor centrally mounted with a set of optics fitted. When the rotor is motioned the light beam is broken and the circuit is opened, when the switch is motioned back and the optics are aligned the circuit is closed. The circuit relies on two break points to achieve isolation.
